I've used the Dog Park and found it to be very nice. There could be more benches and perhaps a water fountain in the shady part of the dog park.

My dog, Tashi, enjoyed the company of the one other dog using the park when we went.

When the weather cools, I imaine we will use it more.

I was very excited to come across your blog. I did not know that Deer Lick Park designed a doggy area. I am taking my 3yr old son and my 1 yr old Malti-zu today. Thank you for providing this information digitally because I really dont read the newspaper as much as I check the internet. Again thanks for your valuable info.

It won't happen next year if Merrill Trust gets their way. Up for approval at next month's P&Z meeting, tabled from this month's meeting, is a sporting club/resort where Foxhall Farms is. It wouldn't be completed until 2020, and the company is already under scrutiny for not paying contractors for the Sky Valley Resort project.

Daniel, There have been some attacks on the trail and you do need to be careful, especially when riding out to some of the more remote areas of the trail. Bringing pepper spray and a cellphone might make you feel more comfortable.

When I've gone to the trail on the weekends, there have been plenty of people there. Most folks are in groups of 2 or 3. Perhaps you could go to the trail and when you see a small group of people you could ask to join them.

want to ride the trail sun, im 19 and really dont want to go alone... got here june 08 so dont really know anyone.. i know i dont expect anyone to trust this... but im not cray online person i just bought a new bike and want to test ride it a long distance safely but everyone up here at work says attacks are known... if anyone rides bikes on it pl email me the_aquatic_alchemist@yahoo.com ill send email pics text anything to make you feel comfortable. i have a myspace if you need a web proof of me and do what ya want.... just lookin for a ride partner and possible ride buddy. i live in Douglasville, GA

The nature preserve is owned by the Atlanta Audubon Society and is not usually open to the public. However the Audubon Society is planning to host some nature walks in the future. Right now, there are not many good trails into it and it's pretty rugged. There will also be a time in October when we will return to remove the deer stands and other things - if you're interested in coming along then, send me an email and I'll let you know once it's been scheduled.

I think people trespass on the property to hunt during the Fall hunting season. I've been out there many times during the Spring and Summer and never run into anyone else.

The property fronts the North side of Anneewakee starting where the power lines are (and there's a trailer park) - the dam with the running water that you can see on Anneewakee is also on Audubon property. Beyond the dam is a pond where quite a variety of water fowl make their home.

Is this nature preserve open to the public? Where on Anneewakee Road is it located? Is it safe? Also, do hunters hunt there during the day (I don't hunt so I don't know)?

Thanks, Julie, for saving me a trip to the Farmer's Market. I had been wanting to go check it out but Thursday AM always seems I'm tied up.

Sorry it wasn't worth going. Did anyone say why the pickings are so paltry?
